River Bank Mat
We are going to create a riverbank mat. We almost have all of the textures we need except for the texture that interfaces with the water. Let's create a rocky texture for water line. This time I am going to go fast.
1. Select your ground plane and choose the M. The click the dart above the preview as shown.

2. Choose "Water & Liquids" and then pick "Narcissus Pool".

3. OK out.
4. Create a terrain using Rolling hills. Use Gaussian edges and adjust the height and sink it into the water to look like something below. You'll have to move it back a little and scale it. How far and how large aren't critical now. Don't shove it back into the haze because we want to see the detail of the material. After you get what you like, change the resolution to 1024.

5. Using the
combination of techniques used in Min and Max and Clip aX+b, the material below
is for the rocky bank. Rather of walking you through each step, I'll just
include the material for download. Download
The download has 3 files. 1 Final mat that has to be imported to the
texture editor. 2 brt files that have to be loaded in the library
materials shown below.
Apply the material to the terrain you just created. Render and take a look so you know what to look for in the next steps.
Then SAVE the material into User, first by Shift Right Clicking on the material dart.

6. Setup the material for the terrain like indicated below.

7. Adjust Basic Altitude as shown below. You adjustment may vary for the height of the rocky part. Adjust b in Filter for the height. Adjust a - for the variation.

8. Below is this material with a few tweaks. Seems that you have to do that. :) The final mat is in your download loaded above. Download in case you missed it. I stretched the grass using X frequency in the upper material. Adjusted some color. Download - Now if you painted a little noise where the upper grass is.. :) Be sure and make your terrain at least 1024 before doing it.
