Particulars

While playing around with ZSpheres in ZBrush, the shape I created reminded me of a tree trunk.  I wondered if it would be possible to position a whole tree accurately enough to use whole trees as parts of a tree.  This tutorial is a result of that experiment.  It should be noted that the size of the resulting tree is very large because of all of the detail.  You may find that it taxes your sysem.  To try to keep the footprint of the tree as small as I could make it, I used my DTE leaves so that I could make the leaves very large thus reducing the load on my system.  Still, the tree is a cruncher.  That is the price we pay for detail.

Additionally, I have inluded only two tree parts and the base of the for this tutorial for people who don't have ZBrush.  Sorry, you are going to have to make this tree.  A complete one would have taken too much of a chunk out of my available space on my web site.  So, the large tree part will be duplicated and rotated to mate with the third part of the trunk.  The fact that one part is duped is not noticable - see the pic above.

If you don't have TreeDruid, take a little time and take a look at this software.  Click on "Making the Tree" below.

This tutorial is broken into three parts.

1.  Making the Base - ZBrush ZShperes

2.  Making the Tree - TreeDruid

3.  Assembling the Tree - Bryce
